Through the years, the Charlie Awards have become one of Hollywood's favorite events as we celebrate the arts and culture of Hollywood.

ABC's George Pennacchio will again serve as MC and our celebrity guests will present the eight awards to individuals and companies for their significant contributions to the arts of Hollywood.

Proceeds from the Charlies benefit programs of the Hollywood Arts Council and, in particular, Project S.O.A.R. (Students Overcoming All Risks), the Council's after school arts workshops present in eight Hollywood area elementary schools.

In 1986, the Hollywood Arts Council created its annual awards luncheon "THE CHARLIES" to acknowledged sponsors of its projects.  In 1988, the Council expanded its awards to include awards for contributions of merit to Hollywood and its arts in a number of categories.
